Q. How much does it cost to acquire a franchise?

The start-up investment varies depending on factors like restaurant size and whether the building is owned or leased. Other factors such as geographic location, local market conditions and municipal requirements, as well as existing site or building conditions, will also have an impact on start-up costs.

To invest in a Best Bite® franchise, you will need a minimum of $150,000 in unencumbered* cash. This cash requirement represents approximately 40% of the total investment, though this too will vary according to the specifics of the location and the financial structure of the opportunity. It is important to understand that variances specific to an individual project could increase or decrease this range. Consequently, we will work with you to estimate an investment range for your specific project.

*”Unencumbered” in this context means money that is not borrowed and is not securing any other loan.

Q. Do I need any previous restaurant experience?

No previous restaurant experience is required although it is an asset. Best Bite® looks for individuals with an understanding of general business principles, along with a strong financial rating and the ability to invest in and support a restaurant. Our training program is designed to provide you with the knowledge and skills required to become a successful Best Bite® franchisee.




Q. What qualities does Best Bite® usually require of its franchisees?

To qualify for a Best Bite® franchise, an individual must have a strong desire to own and operate their own successful business, specifically a franchised quick service restaurant. Best Bite® looks for high potential owner/operators who are fully committed to the business and to making it a success, as well as an ability to relate well to employees, customers and the community. The need for hard work in the operation of a profitable Best Bite® restaurant cannot be overemphasized.




Q. Is it necessary for me to work in the restaurant?

As we believe that a franchisee’s direct involvement is critical to the restaurant's success we require you to be active in the day-to-day operation of your business.




Q. Are partnerships allowed?

Yes, two or more persons may join together to purchase a Best Bite® franchise.




Q. What is the average size of a Best Bite® Restaurant?

The typical size of a Best Bite® restaurant is around 3,000 sq. ft. with seating for 100 to 120 people. There should be parking for around 50 vehicles and room for a drive through lane.

Our preferred site selection criterion is as follows:


  • 2,500 to 3,500 square feet
  • Ground floor space
  • Ample short term parking
  • Easy ingress and egress
  • Good signage potential
  • Good visibility


  • Middle to Upper Income
  • Busy street with high pedestrian traffic

Q. What are the ongoing fees?

Ongoing royalties are 5% of sales, which are collected monthly.




Q. What about advertising?

We believe that a coordinated advertising effort is an essential part of the success of a franchise system. Consequently, you are required to invest not less than an amount equal to 2% percent of your gross revenues promoting your Best Bite® restaurant in your territory, plus each franchisee is required to contribute an amount which will not exceed 2% of its gross revenues to an Advertising and Promotion Fund. The Advertising and Promotion Fund will be used to promote the Best Bite® brand name using a variety of mediums including: television, radio, billboards, coupons, in store promotional materials, etc.




Q. Is financing available from Best Bite®?

We do not provide any form of financing for our franchised restaurants. However, we will provide the necessary information and advice to assist applicants to make loan applications to financial institutions.




Q. How long does the Franchise Agreement last?

The initial term is 5 years with 5 year renewal options.




Q. What form of training and guidance is provided?

Before your restaurant opens for business, we provide up to 3 weeks of intensive in-store training for the franchisee and one of its key management people. The training will take place at our training centre in St. Paul, Alberta. In addition, we will have someone in your restaurant immediately before and just after you open for business to assist you with staff training, receiving your initial inventory, coordinating your grand opening promotion and making sure every aspect of your restaurant opening goes smoothl




Q. How much money can I make?

That's a good question, and one that depends on several factors, including your ability to manage the business, sales volume, location, and operating cost controls. These factors, and more, all affect the profit a restaurant can generate.
